The historic Badgerow Building in Sioux City could become home to 21st century technology businesses if its current owner lures them to northwest Iowa. Bruce DeBolt, a developer from California, is restoring the 12-story Art Deco office building and recently travelled to Europe to market the office space. He hopes to bring data centers to the building, which will be outfitted with the latest in technology. According to the Sioux City Journal, DeBolt’s project has already replaced 500 windows, fixed the leaky roof, installed a new boiler, repaired the elevators, gutted the interior walls, and removed an unsightly fire escape. Work continues on floors 5 through 12, including constructing restrooms and replacing outdated mechanical equipment. The Badgerow Building was one of Iowa’s Most Endangered Properties of 2004.
